Originally founded in 1944 as the Personnel and Industrial Relations Association (PIRA) by a small group of Los Angeles personnel administrators, PIHRA has grown to serve eighteen professional chapters, twelve student chapters and three specialty groups. PIHRA has a dedicated staff who are eager to serve PIHRA members and the broader HR community in California.
Comply with all laws and regulations applicable to their membership, and to maintain high standards of ethical conduct in the operation of that membership and in their dealings with fellow members, employees, sponsors, vendors and others with whom members come in contact during their membership interactions.
Treat all members with dignity and respect, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other characteristic or basis prohibited by applicable law.
Maintain and encourage high standards of integrity in all efforts pertaining to membership.
Avoid any behavior which could construed as harassment, bullying, or degrading to any fellow member, employee, vendor or sponsor.
Refrain from sharing gossip or negativity about the organization or individual members with other members, employees, vendors or sponsors, either in writing or orally, including through social media and any other public communication channels.
Take prompt action to address member questions, concerns, or complaints regarding unsafe conditions, discrimination, harassment, or any other matter involving the terms and conditions of their membership.
PIHRA members are encouraged to make a report of any violation to this Code of Ethics that they may be witness of, or a victim of discrimination or harassment from another member. Such report may be made either to the President of the Board at president@pihra.org, or to the chairperson of the PIHRA Ethics committee.
Members of the organization that are found to be in violation of any items in the Code of Ethics may be subject to corrective action, up to and including immediate termination of their PIHRA membership and all benefits thereof.
